The heat is up! We are sweating buckets as we make our way across beautiful lush western Kentucky. Thanks goes out to the Methodist Church in Marion for hosting us last night - the AC saved us! Raine and I are both eating lots of meat on this trip, and we've even tried some of the local fare - fried pickles! We opted out for the frogs legs although it was tempting. Our best meal has been steak and an enormous baked potato smothered with real butter and sour cream. Ahhhhhhh.

Yesterday Raine gorged on watermellon as she and I walked back to the church from the grocery store. We are really grateful to all the libraries we stop in during the heat of the day to cool off, use their computer, and read. Also, thanks to Elizabeth who took us to Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park. If she hadn't driven us, we would have missed that amazing geological sight.

Thank you for all the recent donations and support. I can't tell you enough how it

Hey girls!!! I just wanted to say hello cuz we are two Boulder girls riding TransAm too (San Fran - VA Beach)!!! We are just a few days behind you and keep hearing about you and seeing your notes in the same places we are staying. We are at Al's place tonight in Farmington. You guys are amazing and we both just read through your whole blog. We too have a blog, although we are a bit behind (bikebabes.posterous.com). We too were vegetarians who have suddenly been eating meat (we don't have much of a choice out here, huh???) and we as well have never loved AC and ice so much. Gosh, it's hot out here!!! We wish you the best on the rest of your journey... heath, tailwinds, and cooler temps. We really are badasses, aren't we! We're really doin it! Rock on, chicas. And feel free to holler at us if you want!

Love,
Becky and Carlie

Laura and Raine,
We visit your page and blog every day that Aine is here in Massapequa. She loves to hear about your trip and see your pictures. She also likes to see the pictures of her as well as Shawn that you have posted. She remembers that pictures and tells me stories about each day when the pictures were taken.
She really loves and misses you guys. She is looking forward to seeing you soon.

Be safe and keep the wind at your back,
Claudia
